First Entry
This is a playground blog - my first. As Chuck Jones's first art teacher told him, you've got a couple thousand bad pictures inside you, so let's start by getting them out of your system...
So I'll make my mistakes here. If anything of value actually results, I can always copy it elsewhere.
Which raises a question - is this blog write-once (and never edit again)? If so, I'll probably just continue to use this one as a stream-of-consciousness, generally low signal-to-noise.
There are some minimal font controls I see...
And yes, I can come back and edit this. Now, can ANYONE post to this, or can I make that possible?

Here's another anonymous comment. This time I need to type a funny word.
yuck

Dr. Horvath, I was an MS student from '75-77 at Penn State and took one of your courses early on. I shared office #321 with Doug Comer, Kevin Harris, Prabhala & Jeff Bross.
Thirty years later, as my son is applying to college in CompSci, I checked the PSU faculty list - could only recognize Dr. Webb Miller, my advisor. Googled you because you made a lasting impression - in the subject, your sense of humor, and a positive comment you made about an answer I gave in one of your classes that gave me a lot of confidence to speak up.
Interesting to see you're halfway across the world while I live three hours from Whitmore Labs. You surely wont remember me, but you were kind enough to invite me (along with other grad assitants) to your abode. I think Kathy was there - how is she?
Thanks for letting me reminisce.
ganesh
